Everything You Need to Know About Rabbit Run Theatre

Sit back and enjoy a night under the lights at Rabbit Run Theatre. Our historic barn theatre is truly a one-of-a-kind showtime experience. And while you’re visiting you’ll want to check out their expansive arts education center. Who needs Broadway when you have a friendly neighborhood theatre?

  • The Theatre

Rabbit Run Theatre is a year-round theatre house that features everything from Broadway shows to local playwrights to children’s theatre. The theatre encompasses a close-knit community of actors who are passionate about their trade. Don’t let the small-town vibe fool you—Rabbit Run produces some of the best shows around.

The theatre building was formerly a farm purchased in 1918 from the Klump family. The barn was converted by extracting the horse stalls, lowering a hayloft, and adding a stage house. Instead of entering into a grand hallway like in a traditional theatre, patrons enter through a Magnolia-scented, brick-paved courtyard and enjoy an alfresco dining experience before making their way to their seats.

  • Arts Education

Rabbit Run Community Arts Association serves as a beacon for the Madison art community. They offer hands-on classes in dance, drama, and music. Dance classes include tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and creative movement. Their drama classes introduce young minds to the world of theatre with the opportunities to perform the theatre’s performances. The music program offers private lessons in piano, guitar, woodwinds, and percussion.

Performing arts isn’t the theatre’s only love—discover their visual arts during your next visit. Local artists display their work on a rotating basis, and the facility provides classes in canvas art, storybook art, ethnic art, and fiber arts.

  • Special Events

Planning an elopement? A corporate event? Family reunion? Rabbit Run Theatre is the perfect spot for your private event! The barn can seat 300 people comfortably and includes a majestic outdoor space.
