The Friendly Festival
The mid-October festival is one of the best in the state. Experience the wholesomeness of the midwest with a pancake breakfast, antique car show, local musicians, kids activities, and a craft show. Learn the history of the county and all about its hand-crafted bridges from the people who know them best. It truly is one of the most unique ways to ring in the change of colors this season.
The Parade
Watch the bridge-crafted floats go by at the festival’s parade. The kids will be awe-struck at the fire engines while you enjoy the classic cars. Be sure to make it to the Giddings Park early enough to reserve your spot near the road.
The Bridges
Perhaps the only reason you need to plan a visit to the festival is to get an in-depth tour of the bridges themselves. The town boasts 19 beautifully constructed bridges throughout its city limits. Ashtabula is committed to preserving the bridges and maintains both the longest and the shortest covered bridges in the country.
During the weekend-long festival, each bridge is adopted by a local non-profit organization, decorated, and presented in their unique way. Plan a driving tour to ensure you see them all during your visit!
